How do you honor one that has chosen death?Face the reality that although there is love—there is the pain of separation. There is anger too—and the futile search to understand why the person could not weather the despair that locked them alone into themself.
And there are many, many questions—why, mostly.
In creating a ceremony that honors one that has chosen death, remember that no single act of desperation can define a life. No matter how stalked by pain, that person’s life also had its moments of delight and happiness, caring and friendship, sharing and love.
So reality must be acknowledged, the hard truth must be spoken…AND then the sharing of “the moments of delight and happiness, caring and friendship, sharing and love” must also be acknowledged and spoken.
This is hard, painful work. It is not easy, and it must be done, and I can help you should you need me.
